Pest Control Firm's own web site
Mid Essex is a fast, efficient, discreet pest control service covering most of Essex including Chelmsford, Dunmow, Bishops Stortford, Brentwood, Ongar and all surrounding towns and villages.

Mid Essex is a reputable company, fully qualified, holding £5m public liability insurance and are members of the NPTA.

We control all pests including;

Rats: £45 per visit.

Rats multiply at an alarming rate, so need to be controlled quickly in order to prevent an infestation.

It is estimated rodents could be the cause of 15% of all house fires because of their love of gnawing electric cables.

Rats are a health hazard as they carry a wide range of diseases which can be passed onto people and pets such as salmonellosis, campylobacter and Weils Disease (leptospirosis) which can be fatal.

We control rats using the dual method of trapping and anticoagulant poison.

All traps and poisons are positioned in lockable bait stations or out of reach places therefore preventing harm to non-target species such as wildlife, children, pets etc.

A return visit is made after 7-10 days to remove dead rodents and pest proof the property using galvanised steel mesh (non-rusting) so the problem does not reoccur, materials for which are fully included in the price of the last visit.

Mice: £45 per visit.

As with rats, we use the dual approach of traps and poisons, both of which are positioned in lockable bait stations or out of reach areas.

Return visits after 7-10 days to remove dead vermin and pest proof the property using galvanised steel mesh (non-rusting) so the problem does not reoccur, materials for which are fully included in the price of the last visit.

Squirrels: £45 per visit.

They can cause enormous damage, chewing stored possessions, electric cables, roof joists as well as creating a noise problem.

It is illegal to release a grey squirrel into the wild as they are not a native species, so the most humane way of control is a kania trap in which they are killed instantly.

We will then pest proof the property so problem does not reoccur, materials for which are fully included in the price of the last visit.

Wasps: £39.

Wasp nests are dealt with by injecting a powdered poison (Ficam D) directly into it.

The nest and all its inhabitants are usually dead within a couple of hours.

The same wasp nest will never be used twice although a return visit to remove it (including pesticide) is recommended.

Bed Bugs:

Bed bugs are probably the hardest pest to exterminate completely.

At least two visits are required.

Before treatment all bedding, soft furnishings and clothes must be washed at a temperature of at least 60C, followed by tumble drying at 40C.

We treat with insecticidal dust all electrical equipment, behind light switches and plug sockets, light fittings etc and use a residual insecticide spray for all cracks and crevices.

A follow up treatment is necessary three weeks after the first visit.

Fleas:

Before treatment we advise the home owner to treat any pets with a flea treatment available from the vet and all pet's bedding to be washed thoroughly (60 C) or disposed of.

We will then thoroughly hoover, and treat with a residual pesticide.

Moles:

We only use traditional trapping techniques, no chemicals or poisons are used.

Cockroaches:

These pests are controlled by laying down an insecticidal gel which is a slow acting poison.

This not only kills the cockroach that eats the gel, but because they are carnivorous, it will also kill other cockroaches that subsequently eat the dead one.

Ants:

These can be treated with a residual insecticidal spray or an insecticidal dust.

Flies:

These are controlled by the use of insecticidal smoke bombs used in conjunction with a residual pesticide spray mixed with sugar to attract the fly to feed on it.

We also control fox, feral cat, rabbit and pigeon.
